The Price Is Done

Cardboard, California::Tomorrow marks a dark day friends. A kid somewhere is going to play hookie from school, turn on his tv at 9am, and begin to cry. Instead of handsome Bob Barker he will see a chubby guy who likes like Dilbert with a flat-top.

That's right, Drew Carrey will take over duties tomorrow for The Price Is Right, and one more piece of American Culture will disappear. Its really quite sad actually. It's not that I am going to miss Bob having to make all the contestants repeat their bids cause he can't hear what they are saying or seeing just how ugly of a woman he will let kiss him on the cheek.

And it's not that I don't like Drew Carrey either. His show that he had where he wore flannel shirts all the time, with the guy who played Jethro in The Beverly Hillbillies Movie, was funny. And that other one where they did impromptu skits but rehearsed them and he made up a really weird point system, was good too.

My point is that there are very few nostalgic things left on television these days. The Price Is Right will not be The Price Is Right, unless Bob Barker is the host. The show will slowly lose it's audience and POOF, it will be gone. At that point CBS will then try to get Bob back and it will be too late. Bob will be working at a car dealership that pays him to stand there and say...."A BRAND NEW CAR!"

(even though it was Rod Roddy who said it)
